The Remainder Is Light
A study in fracture, wholeness, and the architecture of peace.
A poem about the body relearning safety, quiet becoming structure, and fracture becoming part of the light rather than evidence against it.

Peace arrives like architecture—
stone by stone,
until silence holds
like cathedral walls.
The body relearns its language:
breath uncoils,
shoulders loosen,
the heart beats
without negotiation.
Even the smallest gestures—
a hand on wood,
a sip of water—
become liturgy,
ordinary acts transfigured.
What was fractured is not erased.
It is absorbed,
like cracks in marble
that catch the sun more fiercely.
The past becomes texture,
a grain that steadies the hand.
This is not joy’s fever.
This is not sorrow’s weight.
It is the still flame—
burning without consuming,
the quiet remainder
after all storms have spoken.
And in that flame,
I stand unbroken.
Not waiting.
Not reaching.
Already whole.
Already radiant.
Already home.
